Tax Filing Coverage

How can I file with april?

april is an authorized IRS tax-filing service available through third-party partners such as fintech and payroll companies, investment platforms, and other financial services companies.

What types of tax-filing services does april provide?

April offers two types of tax-filing services:

april Filer: Filer is an e-filing product designed to help you prepare and e-file your federal and state tax returns on your own.

april Pro: This service connects you with a tax preparer through certain third-party partners or if april e-filing isn’t available in your state for the tax year. Your preparer will review the information you provided, ask questions, gather documents, then prepare and e-file your return(s) for you.

Both options use easy, step-by-step questions that cover many common tax situations. They support federal and state taxes in all 50 states—and Washington, DC—during tax season.

Which tax situations does april support?

April covers many common tax situations for US residents, including:

  • Standard credits and deductions for employees

  • Independent contractors

  • Gig workers

  • Families and more…

Filing Cost

How much does filing with april cost?

The fees for filing are determined by the partner that connected you to april, such as your investment platform or payroll provider.

Guarantees

Does april guarantee the accuracy of my return or a maximum refund?

If you find a mistake in your tax prep that entitles you to a bigger refund or smaller tax bill, we’ll refund any fees you paid to use our service to prepare your taxes. You’ll also be able to use april Pro to amend your return at no extra cost.

To qualify, the larger refund or smaller tax bill can’t be due to:

  • Incorrect information you provided

  • Your decision not to claim a credit or deduction

  • Anything illegal on your return

  • Changes in federal or state tax laws

If our tax preparation software makes a mathematical error that causes you to owe IRS penalties or interest that you wouldn’t have been required to pay otherwise, april will reimburse you up to a maximum of $10,000.

Does april provide audit support?

If you receive an audit letter about a return filed through april, we’ll provide helpful info like FAQs or links to resources on the IRS or other tax authorities’ websites. However, we won’t represent you or give legal advice.

Security and Compliance

Is my data secure with april?

april uses state-of-the-art cybersecurity and follows data protection standards required by the IRS.
