Review call vs. written guidance
When you use expert assistance, you choose how you want to work with your Tax Pro. Both options cover up to two topics from your return, but the experience and timing are different.
What’s a scheduled review call?
A review call is a live, one-on-one call with your Tax Pro.
With a review call:
You get a 30-minute scheduled call
Your Tax Pro reviews your selected topics in real time
You can ask questions and get immediate answers
They explain any areas that need a second look before filing
This option is best if you want to talk things through and leave the call feeling ready to finish and file on your own.
What’s written guidance?
Written guidance is completed in-app, without a live call.
With written guidance:
You choose up to two topics and share any questions
Your Tax Pro reviews your information and uploaded documents
They provide written explanations, flag common IRS rejection risks, and share a checklist of items to review
Timing:
Written guidance is usually completed within 24–48 business hours after you’re assigned to your Tax Pro.
This option works well if you’re comfortable reviewing feedback and making updates on your own.
Which option should I choose?
Choose a review call if you want real-time answers and live discussion.
Choose written guidance if you prefer flexible timing and written feedback.
Both options are designed to help you catch issues early and file with confidence.
Key takeaway
Expert assistance offers two ways to get help before filing: a live 30-minute review call or in-app written guidance completed within 24–48 business hours. You can choose the option that best fits your timeline and how you like to get answers.
