The April 15, 2025, filing deadline is coming up, and we’re here to help you stay on track. To keep your return moving without delays, be sure to upload your documents and complete your info on time.
We’ve put together a list of key dates and important details to make things easier for you.
If you miss a deadline, you may need to file an extension—but keep in mind that any taxes owed are still due by April 15 to avoid penalties.
Key tax deadlines
March 31, 2025 – Last Day to File Without an Extension
Upload all tax documents by this date so your tax pro has what they need to file on time.
April 1 – April 7, 2025 – Automatic Extension Filing
If you upload your tax documents during this period, your tax pro will automatically file an extension for you at no extra cost.
April 8 – April 13, 2025 – Automatic Extension Filing (Limited Estimated Payment Guidance)
Your tax pro will still file an extension for you at no extra cost. However, with the deadline approaching, we may not have enough time to provide estimated tax payment guidance before April 15.
After April 13, 2025 – No Extensions Can Be Filed
To file an extension for you, please upload your documents by April 13. If we don’t get them in time, we won’t be able to submit an extension before the deadline.
Extensions & payments: What you need to know
No extra fees for extensions – If you need more time to file, we’ll submit an extension for you at no additional cost.
April 15 payment deadline still applies – An extension gives you more time to file, but any taxes owed are still due by April 15 to avoid penalties and interest.
If there's time, your tax pro will estimate a payment for you. If not, they’ll help you decide between:
Making a safe harbor payment based on last year’s tax bill
Paying nothing now and handling any penalties later
What’s next?
Finish entering your tax info and upload your documents as soon as possible.
Your tax pro will review everything and follow up about estimated payments.
If needed, be ready to make a payment by April 15.
